How Less Will Give You More (just you wait!)

When I was fifteen, I tore my ACL and became depressed. I had based all my self-worth on being a good athlete and I felt as though I was left with nothing. One day, my dad told me that I determine my worth: nobody else. And that if I left it in the hands of others I was asking for a lifetime of heartache. “Take celebrities for example,” he’d say. “Their whole career, how much money they make depends on how well-liked they are. What a torturous life to live.” That summer, I, the skeptic, lost and sad, met with a psychic — two, actually — who I’m eternally grateful for. They’d introduced me to someone wonderful: me. Although tearing my ACL was awful, along the way I learned how to see myself for all the positives I possessed instead of focusing on the negatives. And with that, I developed a love… for myself.

Let me start by saying our mind is a powerful and complex tool but we can manipulate it by developing habits. When I started thinking about myself for all the attributes and talents that made me the person I am, I realized I had so much worth just being me. AND YOU DO TOO! Loving yourself is not selfish despite it’s arrogant connotation. It doesn’t mean you are worth more than another. It simply means you’re aware of who you are, what you bring to the table, and you own it. By adopting a positive view of myself, I gained the confidence to do a lot more things out of my comfort zone which included decluttering. I LIVED. I CHALLENGED MYSELF. AND MY CONFIDENCE SKYROCKETED. Now I want others to say the same. I started getting more satisfaction from trying new things and making connections than consumables. I became fascinated with the idea of materialistic freedom and nomadism.

I already had a knack for cleaning and organizing but when I discovered the term “minimalism,” I couldn’t get enough of the movement! I watched documentaries and YouTube videos, read articles, and researched people and events. And when that no longer satisfied my craving, I decided to challenge myself over and over again to this day. It forces me to creatively and realistically think, as well as, problem solve.

My goal is to help others free up their materialistic lives so they feel free and confident to reach their goals. It’s that simple! I want to show people the power they possess, how to harness it, and inspire them to live a legendary life.

I want to write a book, perform speeches, and work one-on-one with clients to declutter their lives, starting with their thoughts, then obligations and possessions. I aspire to travel and make connections worldwide. I believe my calling in life is to build community, and that is what I aim to do in any way I can. In the upcoming weeks, I hope to learn which steps I should take first, get my goals in order, how to identify a market, and get my idea out in the world. All the while, I will continue to challenge myself, make connections, and grow. Want to join me? Disagree with anything? Let’s talk about it over coffee!

Gotcha ;)
